About Guiding Star Hotel
The Guiding Star Hotel Motel holds local historical and architectural importance as a sizable and intricately designed establishment intended to cater to the traffic along Geelong Road and the industrial operations in the Brooklyn area. Standing as the last remaining hotel in Brooklyn, it was constructed around 1930, incorporating an earlier structure associated with the nascent village of Brooklyn.
This complete venue, known as The Guiding Star Hotel Motel, offers cold beers, traditional pub cuisine, budget-friendly accommodation, and a Thirsty Camel Bottle Shop. It accommodates a diverse clientele, including the hardworking crowd, truck drivers, tradespeople, and travelers en route to Melbourne in search of well-maintained lodging.
The hotel itself features a Spanish Mission style, characterized by a stuccoed, two-story structure adorned with Cordova tiles on a hipped roof. Projecting parapets above the two side entries and the main corner entry add architectural interest to the building. Beyond its visual appeal, The Guiding Star Hotel Motel remains a significant fixture in local history, reflecting its role in serving the arterial traffic of Geelong Road and supporting the industrial activities in the Brooklyn region.
